Circa 1997 & Earlier
Early into my teens, I had started finding interest in combining graphic illustration with storytelling. This period also marks the beginning of my study of the arts. Prior to this, I was a just a doodler.

Circa 1998
I started taking art classes in high school around this time. I began experimenting with a micron pen, for which I recieved a lot of attention due to my often excessive detail which I exhibited in my works. In my morbid self portrait below, my teenage youth is very visible.
I also began messing around a bit with cartooning, especially the Japanese style; however, it was not too long before I lost interest in it. I continued along with my own style of graphic illustration.

Circa 1999
The later part of my junior year of high school marked my venture into the dynamics of figure drawing. This was a bit of an awakening for me as an artist, as well. Note the progress in imaginative figure portrayal in relation to the 1997 illustrations.

Circa 2000
I often used a mechanical pencil to make my drawings. Later, I began to add ink. It wasn't until this time, however. that I began do draw with compressed charcoal.

Circa 2001 - 2002
Around this time, I had begun to concentrate more on digital imaging. Most of my imaginative sketches (which are not being shown) were done on a computer using a Wacom tablet,

Circa 2003 - Present
Two-thousand-three was the year I concentrated fully on studying the world around me and drawing from life. Most of my imaginative drawings were put to use in the graphic novel.
